Dear friends,
last year, 2022 seemed a safe time to schedule a conference such as the 12 ICG.
Unfortunately, after almost one year, the health situation all over the world is still very critical resulting in travel restrictions, cancelled services and important meetings in-person and a near-halt of recreational and entertainment events.
This leads us thinking that next year might not be as safe and travel-free as we hoped.
Moreover, many similar events in the geosynthetics and geotechnical communities have been postponed and will be held in early or mid 2022: GeoAfrica-February 2022 in Cairo, GeoAsia-April 2022 in Taipei, XX ICSMGE-May 2022 in Sydney, resulting in a crowded overlapping year of conferences.
For all these reasons the Organizing Committee of 12 ICG has made the difficult decision to postpone the event to the period 17-21 September 2023, always in Roma.
Of course all deadlines are postponed of one year (details about deadlines will be spread shortly and published on website, social groups and newsletters).
This is not a decision we have taken lightly. It is the one which we hope will ensure the operational integrity of the conference, while protecting everyone’s wellbeing and, ultimately, ensuring the event is a healthy and inclusive one for everyone. We feel that we can be true to the “resiliency” mentioned in the title of the conference.
We are sure all of you will keep your interest in 12 ICG.
We really hope to “leave behind” us all these troubles soon, and meet each other in Roma!
Wishing you good health, we remain
Yours sincerely

with great pleasure and honour the Italian Geotechnical Society (AGI) and the Italian Chapter of IGS (AGI-IGS) invite you to attend the 12th International Conference on Geosynthetics, which will be held in Roma, Italy, on September 2023.
Years after the successful EuroGeo 2, which was held in Bologna in October 2000, we cordially welcome your participation and kind support at this coming event in 2022.
The geosynthetics and geotechnical engineering community has reached full awareness over the last two decades, and the whole geosynthetics industry has focused on the sustainable use of geosynthetics in a variety of innovative as well as consolidated applications. After Sustainability, the ability to overcome the natural events effects, often related to climate change, and human activities forced to refer to a new keyword: Resiliency.
Hence the 12ICG intends to become the base for the next step therefore the conference theme will be:
Geosynthetics, Leading the Way to a Resilient Planet
The conference topics will address, through general and parallel sessions, keynote lectures and invited presentation, the most recent developments in geosynthetics, stimulating fruitful technical and scientific interaction among academicians, professionals, manufacturers, students.
We believe that the 12ICG will provide an excellent opportunity to present recent experience and developments to an audience of engineers, geologists and consultants, public and private contractors, local national and international authorities, and to all those involved in research and practice related to geosynthetics.
The “Eternal City” does not need to be introduced being one of the most attractive and emblematic locations in the world, thanks to its impressive architectural heritage, must-visit Museums, pleasant weather and its extraordinary social life, not to mention the taste of the Italian food.
The conference will be held at Auditorium Parco della Musica, situated at the heart of a budding cultural quarter in Roma, and designed by the iconic Italian architect Renzo Piano. The Auditorium is the biggest multifunctional complex in Europe and the second “cultural factory” of the world after the Lincoln Center of NY. Moreover, the Auditorium hosts an ancient Villa dated 300 BC and a Museum making the Auditorium a real archaeological site.
The Eternal City will offer you a wonderful journey through Science and History!
Do not miss the largest conference on geosynthetics in the world!
